It is true, but the enemy he's facing is also not a big deal in the scale of the universe, and there are several indications of this as the story goes on too, so don't worry about the story ending in 1 year story timeline. You could treat it as the first mega-arc I guess, and this mega-arc ended in the mid 1000s, so quite recently. The current chapters are the beginning of MC and humanity slowly entering on a bigger stage and I can see this story going on for quite a lot more chapters. Btw on a side note, I'd recommend you read this if you like good quality writing. The individuality of all the important side characters is maintained throughout the story, the FMC isn't just some chick who simps on MC for example. And all kinds of emotions are very strongly portrayed, you can really feel it yourself while reading. It is quite a satisfying experience for the most part.

I mean no he works like a slave but he does manage to achieve what he wants... eventually. But it's rlly satisfying cus there's no plot device b*llsh*t and the world-building is very interesting.
