Definitely deserves its ranking on this site and it's really interesting to watch how the mc grows and slowly devolves into a madman. The ending might not have been the best and there definitely was a lot more potential to the story but oh well . . .

One of the best novel i have read so far, the mc seeks power and nothing else and it has definitely the best character development. While this novel isn't perfect and has an open ending it's a must read.

this is the best novel ever made, hands down. The power building is the best imo. unlike any other novel like it SHOWS that a human can evolve, devolve, learn. and unlike basically every novel out there where "time to sacrifice my life to save this stray dog" its not like that. just amazing read it rn.

I feel like the beginning is kind rough, but it improves with the time, the highlight for me is MC's power development and change of personality, the latter being truly the most interesting and conflicting thing about this novel

A really good novel, during the midpoint of this novel I didn't like the direction that the main character was going. However, I grew to love the main characters' purpose/end goal. I was a bit disappointed at the end since there was such a big build-up to a final battle only for it to end in a few chapters. But hey, the author intended to have such an ending with a broken character. Would highly recommend reading through Shang's journey and seeing how he evolves and devolves as a person.

Great novel. Definitely should read the Author's previous novel "Lightning is the Only Way" before reading this, as this novel is an indirect sequel. Overall, it was well written. The progression was well done and all of the developments and questions are all answered and/or explained by the end. Only reason for not getting 5 stars is the initial misdirection by the Author, who stated that his novels weren't connected. This left many readers confused when it was revealed towards the end that they were, in fact, connected. Especially those who hadn't read the first book and had no idea what was going on at first. Definitely not me, though. . . totally knew.

(NO SPOILER AHEAD) You saw my score and you probably thinking this ***** be wilding. Imma tell you this, this, this right here is the bomb. I only need four words to describe this novel: EPIC! Main character: the bomb Side characters: crisp. Story line and plot twist: got me nutting like 1 of dec Pre and Post story: succulent And I'm only touching the surface of this sweet baby boy. This novel is delicious; and Imma explain myself. (though im only writing about three things cause i dont want you to die from old age by the time you finish reading this[if you do]) The characters are well written and designed to be rememberable. (For anyone reading this comment after reading at least 100 chapters, the characters are so memorable that you can give me any name and I would be able to tell you who that guy is). The biggest reason why the reader can remember randos is credited to how the author can describe the characters. Like any author, he states what they look like; however the environment and magic(I ainght spoiling anything) add to the design of every characters. Illustrating a picture of the character become so much easier and memorable; it even helps to remember what their abilities are. Secondly, the magic system. (moan) I nearly busted again. Its so fresh, well explained, coherent and exciting. The magic in this world is so well explained that you can understand the basis of such magic using real life concepts. Not only is it well explained, the illustration and demonstration of how the magic is intertwined within the world leaves the reader jealous. There cannot be a reader that did not wish to do what the character of this story did(like what harry potter did to the generation before). However, unlike harry potter we understand the reason how the 'magic' work. The magic system used in this novel is clearly a hard magic system, and though it might seem limited, it offers ample of innovative spells and technique without leaving the reader lost as to what is going on. Techniques(spell included) are used and reused; and although that might sound repetitive, it gives us the most important thing that a novel could give, memorable moments. We remember the techniques and love to see them during battles. Overall the author's magic is top tier. Lastly, the writing. One word: perfect. (Now im not talking about the word he used the vocabulary and the grammar[even though it is really good], youll see what im talking about). OH my B*ll*cks is it good! The way the writer incorporates the readers notion of reading into his novel is MIND BLOWING. We are here to read light novels. Lights novels differ to regular novels in multiple ways, with the length of the paragraph and size of the novel being the two main ones. The authors writing is like Mcdonald fries. Its short, crisp and well seasoned. It's lovely and after you finish the previous one you are left desiring for just one more until you finish the entire chapter. Reading becomes an exquisite experience that has you excited for the rest. All in all even if you dont read everything, the character, magic system and writing are all well done. This novel leaves nothing left to be desired and is one of the few novel I've read that deserves a 5 star. For those that are starting this wonderful journey, im a little jealous not being able to read this for the first time, but wish you the best of luck on your continuation. Peace!

Truly a piece of art. 👨‍🍳💋 it’s definitely different from other novels. It’s also connected into another one for the authors works ‘Lightning is the only way’. The MC changed SOOO much but in a natural way for what his goals were. There’s no harem or love interest but that’s fine. It would work with Shang anyway. I’m sad it’s over now but I can finally move onto something new as I just kept thinking about this novel while reading something else. The MC is very power hungry for the sake of more power, at least towards the end. I highly recommend reading this if you want lots of fighting, training, lots of world building (then world rebuilding 😉 ifkyk)

I loved the novel as it was very unique in its approach to character development and the main character was relatively different compared to novels in the same genre. I truly fell in love with this novel, like all the other addicts. However, this is where my praise ends. The last chapter was truly disappointing. It is confirmed that the novel is in the same universe as the author's other work Lighting is the Only Way, and taking into account the way the story wrapped up, I would first recommend you read LitOW, although it is not absolutely necessary. The main character was gutted just so that the author could create a new main character. I find it disgusting, and yet I don't have in me to give this less than 5 stars. What a shame.

Now that I finished the story I am writing a new review. All in all, it's a good story with fast pacing (not at the start), and continuously expanding progression - in terms of world building, power, and character development. The end is lowkey unsatisfying, and I don't think there is enough side character development, but the journey along the way is worth it. Enjoy
